There was a cross-border incident on Wednesday, 3 Adar 5773 in the southern Golan Heights between Israel and Syria. Soldiers during the afternoon hours detected an image approaching the border. In line with protocol they ordered the image to “halt”. When the person failed to comply with verbal orders and warning shots, they fired at his legs, hitting him.
Soldiers from the UN peacekeeping force arrived on the scene and evacuated the injured person.
A source in the IDF Northern Command told HaMevaser that in recent weeks, there is an escalation in the number of such incidents and as such, the adherence to the protocol is being enforced with rigidity and the response is immediate and decisive.
