FRIGHTENING FOOTAGE: Vegas Police On Wild Pursuit And Shootout With Murder Suspects

In bodycam footage so stunning it could be mistaken for a movie, a Las Vegas Metro police officer chasing two men in an SUV is seen speeding through downtown Vegas while simultaneously shooting out his car’s front windshield and trading shots from his side window during a deadly gun battle.

The suspects traded more than 60 shots with police during the harrowing pursuit. The officer behind the wheel, William Umana, can be heard on video yelling “shots fired” multiple times. The chase ended when the suspects crashed into the wall of an elementary school.

One suspect was killed and a second wounded during a shootout Wednesday with police in downtown Las Vegas, hours after the pair was involved in the fatal shooting of another man, authorities said.

The gunfire began at around 7:30 a.m. when an unidentified man was fatally shot at a car wash.

About two hours later, police said they saw a vehicle matching the description of the one the suspects were driving, Las Vegas police Capt. Yasenia Yatomi said.

Police traded gunfire with the two suspects during a chase that ended with the SUV crashing into a wall at an elementary school, Yatomi said. One suspect then was fatally shot by police after he tried to flee on foot. The other, who was wounded by police, had made it onto the school grounds before he was taken into custody, Yatomi said.

No other injuries were reported.

The high-speed chase shut down traffic in an area covering several blocks of downtown Las Vegas.

The school was placed on lockdown while children inside were attending a summer program

The initial victim who was shot multiple times later died at University Medical Center.

Rene Nunez, 30, got out of the vehicle and tried to run upstairs into the school, but the door was locked, Las Vegas Metro police Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly said.

Fidel Miranda, 23, moved toward the passenger seat of the SUV and started to move it back toward the officer’s cruiser. Police fired on Miranda and he later died at the scene. Nunez, who was also wounded, was arrested and is facing several felony charges, including murder, police said.

  1. I think in situations like these those suspects should also be charged against their property/estate (if they have any $) towards covering the damages to police property.

  2. Yaapchik – Is what police protocol?

    1) To shoot at murderers that are speeding through a town and shooting at the police and innocent bystanders?
    Yes I would think so.
    2) Murderers trying to run into a school to possibly hurt or kill other or take them as hostages?
    Yes I would think so.
    3) To stop a murderer from running you over with their vehicle using it as a weapon?
    Yes I would think so.

Don’t know what you don’t understand?
