An off-duty NYPD officer is under arrest after driving drunk, crashing his car, fleeing the scene, and then punching a man who tried to stop him from driving away again.

Tanvir Ahmed, 28, was charged with assault, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and refusing to take a breath test, just before 9:30PM Monday evening.

As can be seen in the video footage below, Ahmed was driving erratically for several blocks down Ocean Parkway, swerving his 2013 Nissan Altima in and out of lanes and hitting the curb multiple times.

He eventually turned into the service road, where he smashed into a parked vehicle on Ocean Parkway and Avenue P, in front of Bnai Yosef Synagogue. A Jewish man in a white shirt ran over to the crashed vehicle and opened the driver side door, but the drunk cop managed to flee the scene while being tailed by the unidentified motorist who was filming the incident.

When Ahmed stopped at Quentin Road, the motorist blocked his path, approached his vehicle and ordered him to step out. The man can be heard exclaiming: “WOW! You’re a (obscenity) cop? Holy (obscenity). He’s a 67 cop. Wow, he’s a cop from the 67. Oh my G-d.”

According to the NYPD, Ahmed also punched the unidentified motorist on the right side of his face.

He was taken into custody a few minutes later.
