Berry Weiss was working in the kitchen of Yeshiva Yam HaTalmud in Montreal on Monday, when his 14-year-old son paid him a visit. While eating a peach, his son began choking. Berry, who is a Montreal Hatzolah member, quickly sprang into action and was B”H able to save his son’s life.
Abdominal thrusts is a first aid procedure used to treat upper airway obstructions by foreign objects. The term Heimlich maneuver is named after Dr. Henry Heimlich, who first described it in 1974.
The Heimlich Maneuver has saved millions of lives in the years since.
