YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Harav Shimon Segal ZATZAL, the Menahel at Yeshiva Toras Emes for more than 60 years.

Rav Segal was a last link to Kovna and Slabodka of yore and to his Rebbi Muvhak Hagaon HaRav Mordechai (Mottel) Pogramansky Zatzal.

Harav Segal Zatzal was zoche to live with and be meshamesh the Dvar Avrohom Zatzal in the ghetto and would recall with Aimas Hakovod his interaction with Reb Elchonon Wasserman HY”D.

HaRav Segal was one of the last people to see Harav Avrohom Grodzenski HYD (Slabodka Mashgiach) prior to his petira in the Kovna Ghetto.

Harav Segal Zatzal created the Tiferes Bachurim, which allowed former Yeshiva Bochrim to gather and learn a bit in the ghetto.

After the war he was instrumental in setting up Mosdos Hachinuch for the Shearis Hapleitah in Aix Le Bain France and that is where he developed the close kesher with Harav Mottel Pogramansky Zatzal.

Upon coming to the United States he continued in his avodas Hakodesh in leading mosdos of chinuch for almost 70 years. In his position of Menahel Klalai of Yeshiva Toras Emes, he was instrumental in making the mosod into the beautiful Mokom Torah that it is today.

The levaya will be held on Monday morning at 11:00AM at Yeshiva Toras Emes located at East 19 Street and Avenue N in Flatbush. The kevurah will be on HAr Hazeisim. As per the niftar’s request there will be no hespeidim.
