What seem to me is the President is following Teddy Roosevelt’s famous line “speak softly, but carry a big stick” in his (President Trump) own way.
Leave it up to CNN to make a controversy out Trump showing decent human respect to a general. I guess Obama bowing down to the king of Saudi Arabia and hobnobbing with the murderous Castro brothers in Cuba doesn’t account for much.
If Trump was returning a salute from the NK general, that would be proper. If he was just saluting the NK glatt im der veldt arayn, that was incorrect. Trump is a Head of State as well as the CINC of all American armed forces. He clearly outranks the NK general.
Just because of CNN, this is not a real story.
Even enemy POWs of high rank are treated with the respect of their rank. Get over it. Non-story.
Let the President do its job!!
it is proper protocol to shake hands with civilians and to salute military officers.
CNN = Fake News. I happened to be somewhere the day after the US election – CNN was on – almost e/o there was depressed & some were crying. Drain the Fake News SWAMP!
