YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Reb Moshe Binik, a well known Baal-Chesed in Flatbush, and the owner of the mammoth KRM Kollel Supermarket in Boro Park and Moisha’s Discount Supermarket in Flatbush. He was 81.
R’ Moshe spent his life doing Chesed, most of it quietly, behind the scenes, as he dedicated himself to the needs of the community for decades, an askan when nobody talked about askanus.
His chasadim range from opening his home for the mitzvah of bikur cholim and to teenage runaways, to establishing discount groceries for kollel families, to setting up lounges for at-risk boys – most notably the founder of “Our Place”. An early member of Flatbush Hatzolah (F-67), he also founded yeshivos and kollelim.
The Levaya will be held on Thursday at 9:00AM at Shomrei Hadas Chapels in Boro Park.

Great Zaddik. Was he sick? How old ?
A Goan of Chesed. A true sincere yirei shomayim who never stopped making kiddush hashem. One of those that you point out to your children and show them who they need to be like when they grow up. I’m sure we each know only a fraction of the chesed that he’s done in his lifetime. He should be a Meilitz Yosher for K’lall Yisroel.

He was either 80 or 81 and his health had been declining for a number of years. His levayah was as he lived, 3 kapitlach tehillim, no hespeidim since it was Rosh Chodesh and a Keil Moleh Rachamim.
I personally knew Reb Moshe Binick, zt”l, who spent some time in Yerushalayim, where we learned together. He shmused with bochurim at Ohr Somayach and helped them grow. In addition, he befriended one of the bochurim who had a very hard life. And also held a sheva brochos for that bochur, as well. I’ll never forget the hachnasa sefer Torah in which he donated a sefer Torah to Ohr Somayach.
