Amid the flurry of activity in the lead-up to the historic US-North Korea summit, there was some time on Monday to celebrate President Donald Trump’s birthday.
He doesn’t turns 72 until Thursday, but his Singapore hosts made sure that it won’t be forgotten. A birthday cake was brought out during the working lunch at the Istana with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and officials from both sides.
Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan shared the moment on social media, saying: “Celebrating birthday, a bit early.”

Some fun action shots of @realDonaldTrump with that birthday cake from the lunch with Singapore’s prime minister. And of course there’s gold all over the cake — including the candle! (Via Singapore’s Comms Ministry) pic.twitter.com/geJ279v3d0

No word if Pres Trump made a wish before blowing out the single candle on the birthday cake presented to him at working lunch today with Singapore officials. He turns 72 on Thursday. (Photo: Singapore Ministry of Communications) pic.twitter.com/m2vPMnWtZN
