Search In Florida For Parents Of Baby Floating In Ocean

Investigators say a baby found floating in the Atlantic Ocean was four to seven days old and had likely been in the water for less than one day.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Capt. Steven Strivelli said the child they’re calling “Baby Jane” was found near Boynton Inlet on June 1 had “very likely” floated northward from Broward County.

He told reporters that investigators “desperately need to talk” to the baby’s parents. He says multiple agencies are reviewing numerous tips, but none have panned out.

He would not say whether the medical examiner has discovered a cause of death, or whether investigators believe the baby was dead before she went into the water.

  1. Is that a photograph of the actual baby’s body? If so, how could you show it? It’s not respectful (not to mention gruesome). If it isn’t the actual baby’s photo, why are you pretending it is? Photos have to be accurate, too, not just the print copy.

  2. I know you’ve thought through this long and hard, but really there’s a third option: this is a picture of the baby BEFORE it died. You’re probably used to this kind of things when adults die – say a picture of Rav Ovadia. That’s not gruesome, is it? But what do I know…

Therefore, it may also be that there was a picture of the baby before it died too.

  3. Shalomshore: I know you’ve thought through this long and hard, but if the police don’t even know who the baby is, then how would they have a photo of him while he was still alive?
