A Rockland Hatzolah Ambulance was involved in a serious crash on Shabbos morning while responding to an emergency.
The crash happened at around 10:20AM at the intersection of Hempstead and New Hempstead Road in Spring Valley.
A Hatzolah member was transported to the hospital, and two victims from the Toyota SUV were transported as well.
None of the injuries were life-threatening.
There was no patient in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash was under investigation by the Ramapo Police Department.

I was always taught שלוחי מצווה אינם ניזוקים. So what happened here?
If any Rabbi reads this article, could they please explain to me, what became of שלוחי מצוה אין ניזקין?
Maybe it was on the way back from a call
Is everything black and white by Hashem? Maybe by being in the hospital for observation they may C”V find something else that needs immediate treatment and that could save him. Maybe by being on hospital and not somewhere else at this moment his life was saved. I can come up with 100 ways how this accident was his yeshua. Besides they said no life-threatening injures, so that alone is a yeshua that he can walk away with hopefully no everlasting injuries
Who says they were injured from a shluchey mitzva. Perhaps when they had the accident they no longer were doing a mitzva or maybe they were negligent at that moment and caused the accident. Besides since when do we judge gods deeds?
The gemara says במקום דשכיח היזיקא then we do not say שלוחי מצוה אינם ניזוקין. If the road is a dangerous road or If the ambulance was not being driven in a safe way then we dont say than there is a shmira.
שלוחי מצוה have shmira on the way back also. Unless again it is a dangerous road or very bad weather which turns it into מקום ששכיח היזק.
Food for thought: I am not 100% positive how it works, however, maybe when you are a passenger and not the driver, then we say שלוחי מצוה אינן ניזקין. The driver himself, he is in control of the vehicle, Hashem will not force him to drive 100% perfectly. In reference to the driver: Hashem will make sure that some crazy drunk idiot will not drive a vehicle in the path of that ambulance. Hashem will keep all the sick drivers at of sight during this emergency.
If you ask a real Rav this question, I am sure that there are many answers. The problem is that the real good true Rabbis are right this moment probably learning and they are not on the internet reading your question, so if you really really are truly seeking an honest answer, your best bet is to pick up the phone and call a Talmid Chacham, Posek or maybe visit a Yeshiva or a Shul and speak to one of the רבנים . If you truly and honestly are seeking an answer, you will for sure get a wonderful answer.
I apologize for the incorrect spelling.
“out of sight”.
In Monsey, on Shabbos, ambulances are usually driven by goyim, as per the p’saak of the Viznitzer Rebbe zatzal. Perhaps it was the goyishe ambulance service personnel who were involved. The article doesn’t say it was Yidden.

If you want an answer to the main question look in
רבינו בחיי פרשת שלח “ויותר יעקב לבדו
being a Hatzola member myself. Many years ago I responded to a 5 yo that was hit by a car running across the street to help his father with the grocery order. He asked me ” how come hashem hit me when I went to do a mitzva” I explained to him the gemara במקום דשכיח היזיקא then we do not say שלוחי מצוה אינם ניזוקין.
