hatzolahbus3.jpgHatzolah of Stamford Hill is taking three police officers, four members of London Ambulance Service, and four doctors from Homerton Hospital Row to the Auschwitz and Birkenau Death camps – the Hackney Gazette reports.

The purpose of the trip is a token of apprieceation to the local emergency services for supporting Hatzolah, and also to raise their awareness of the Jewish culture.

Hatzolah member Chunni Kahan, told the local news agency: “We thought it would be a nice idea to take some people out there.”

“I think it is a way of saying thank-you for all of their support. Rather than booking them a room for a lovely meal, we thought we would give them something that they would not have thought to arrange themselves.”

“I have been there in November 2006. It is emotional and it will be emotional. I feel honoured that I have the opportunity to show it to fellow professionals”, he added.

“It was an eye opening and educational experience and at the same time very moving as my grandparents perished there at Auschwitz.”
