Social media user Quai James, who went viral last week after sharing a video mocking a young Chasidic Jewish boy’s haircut, has since apologized in another viral video he posted tonsocial media, and then by visiting Brooklyn to apologize in person to the community.
NYC Councilman Kalman Yeger announced Monday he had invited James for a tour of Boro Park on Tuesday, to learn about one another’s cultures and honor the power of forgiveness. Councilman Yeger and Mr. James were to meet at Yanky’s Pizza for lunch and then begin the walking tour from there.
However on Tuesday, Yeger announced that the meeting had been postponed due to the Petirah and Levaya of the Mattersdorfer Rav, Hagaon HaRav Simcha Bunim Ehrenfeld ZATZAL.
Yeger said they had rescheduled the meet-up for after Shavuos. YWN will keep our readers updated then.
Grateful to @quaijames for graciously agreeing to postpone his visit because of today’s levaya (funeral) for the Mattersdorfer Ruv, of blessed memory. We’ll reschedule after Shavuos. https://t.co/2p1GMNEV9O

Last week Yeger joined numerous other Jewish leaders and New Yorkers in condemning the viral tweet in which comedian and Twitter personality Quai James was seen mocking the young Jewish child.
While we’re all used to the outrage cycle following offensive social media posts, the sincerity of Mr. James’ apology was felt by many in the Jewish community, including Councilman Yeger. That’s why he invited Mr. James on a guided tour of the Borough Park section of Councilman Yeger’s district, the most heavily populated Jewish neighborhoods in New York.
Good afternoon to everyone watching .. I’m truly sorry for my actions .. @FonrougeGab pic.twitter.com/HaO4cwGaWN

Sorry but this is getting out of hand
this story gives us a better understanding of why when a person does teshuva m’ahava, his aveiros turn into zchuyos. here you have a man who did an aveira b’meizid and has since done a sincere teshuva m’ahava and now his actions are being viewed as zchuyos. a gut chodosh to one and all.
