If you have purchased tickets to the Big Event Concert, and would like to get a refund, please follow the following instructions.
If you have purchased your tickets online click HERE and fill out the form.
If you did not purchase your tickets online, please click HERE.
The forms must be filled out before March 20 to get your refund.
The other option is to allow Simchat Tzion to keep your ticket money as Tzedakah, and have them send you a tax deductible receipt.

If you look at the site, they weren’t selling tickets, but giving tickets based on donated amounts. This money may have already been donated to tzedaka. I would ask a shaila if it’s permitted to take a refund.
Blue Pinky — Thank you for your input
But Rabbonim and Poskim have been involved, knowing all the details in all situations.
It’s unfortunate that da BIG EVENT had to end (this way).

Sounds like a good question…
The question is, if someone donated to the cause in order to receive the tickets-Which I’m sure many have-the tzedakah may not be ‘chal lemafraya’…
But lets wait for some daas torah…
Does it have to be mailed or can i walk into their office on 60th st? And if I paid cash for them how are they gonna mail back cash to me?
I think there have been enough shailos asked during this event – everyone take your refund or dont take your refunds – – please do not ask shailos since Im sure us and the rabonim have had enough & need to move on to more important things.
This money may have already been donated to tzedaka. I would ask a shaila if it’s permitted to take a refund.
–You mean ask the very same people who decided that said hefsed was not enough of an issue to prevent the ban in the first place?
“But lets wait for some daas torah…”
Prepare for a long wait…
My 2 cents, if you “donate” $50.00 towards a charity and in return receive concert tickets, guess what? you can’t take the whole $50 from masser!
You have to take the $50 minus the average cost of a concert, and that’s what can be taken from masser.
You heard what Rabbi Levin said on the interview. This being a “leap ” year, turned into a “LIPA” year.
ha ha
the truth is, if you previously purchased tickets to this ‘concert,’ you don’t deserve a refund! the da’as torah has spoken that this prusta’ ‘concert’ is assur! you should consider the loss of the price of the tickets a ‘knas’ for being ‘mesayeya ledvar aveirah’! this is a small price to pay in return for the horrific chilul hashem that would have happened if this concert would not R”L have been canceled!
Zalmy, even if you are correct, surely there were many people who innocently bought tickets to what they thought was a perfectly kosher form of entertainment.
I hope you wouldn’t knas those people.
I don’t know why they didn’t just turn the Big Event into a Big Tehillim Event, or something like that. Unfortunately, there are way too many causes in Klal Yisrael that could probably have used it.
Do not be swayed by all the above comments, ASK YOUR SHAILA!!! No sense coming back to this world over this debt.
and zalmy what if my rav is not against it .. not every rav is part of the ban … and even if my rav was against it since when do u or the organization become a din torah and decide the punishment of one who didnt follow the rabbanim that put the ban.
i dont see any problem with the refund
It is a MEA COCH TOES 99.9% donated money for the concert to go on or for advertiseing or for other reasons that did not happen.
ASK YOUR SHAILA to your RABBI
donate forsure
donate donate donate
tzedaka shoud not be taken back
in the long run is this all worth 50 bucks
A number of comments have been posted that express the thought (openly and not so openly)that we should all think for ourselves. There is no question there is truth and good basis for this.
However, one must not forget that our Torah stresses the concept of mesorah; “Morashah kehilas Yaakov” – “v’shinantom l’vanechah” – “v’hodata lvanecha vilivnei banecha” – sh’al avicha, v’yagedcha, zikeinecha, v’yomru lach.”
The Gemorah (Eiruvin 54b) and the Mishnah (Avos 1:1) detail that mesorah. The Rambam gives further detail describing the mesorah from Moshe through the Chachmei HaTalmud.
Rav Yaakov Kaminetsky z”l said proficiency in EVERY Tosfos in Shas is needed to be a Rav/Posek.
The fact that not all Rabbonim agreed with the ban is therefore pointless. Every corner of Torah observant Judaism was represented on the ban. The elders of the generation. The eyes of the nation. What G-d fearing individual could dare argue without discussing the matter with the ba’alei mesorah?
Think for oneself, yes. Ask, also yes. Both are characteristic of Torah Jews.
ב”ה אז אלעס ארבעט זיך אויס, אפילו אז עס נעמט אביסעל צייט
THE SHAILA GOES MUCH FURTHER THAN YOU ALL THINK.
WHAT IF YOUR DONATIONS WHICH WENT TO SIMCHAT ZION MARRIED OFF A COUPLE OF COUPLES AND PAID FOR THE ENTIRE WEDDING , NOW SIMCHAT ZION WANTS TO PAY BACK THE MONEY , DO ALL THESE MARRIED COUPLES HAVE TO RAISE THE MONEY TO GIVE BACK TO SIMCHAT ZION?
WAS THE KIDDUSHIN BICHALL A KIDDUSHIN IF THE KIDUSHIN RING WAS NOT REALLY THIERS TO BEGIN WITH.
ELA MAI , YOULL HAVE TO SAY THAT TZDAKA WAS REALLY CHAL, ITS JUST MKAN ILHABA THAT THEY HAVE TO REFUND NEW MONEY.
MANY CHAKIROS TO BE CHOIKER HERE , NOT SO SIMPLE.
why would I donate to a place that the rabbanim had Lipa not sing at and then say its a ogod palce.
Please answer me,
Motti Moermna
OH GOODNESS, Still on this foolish topic?? let it rest, move on… please – there are so many kids who are having issues in yeshiva and not a single rov, posek or gvir is heard screaming about that?!?!?
Yeah, just what I thought, silence
Motti, no one said not to support the organization, C”v. The rabbanim decided that the CONCERT is not the way to raise money, but this does not reflect on the organization which, we must presume, did not know any better when they scheduled the concert as a fundraiser.
still silence…. Raboisai… The kinderlach…. what’s the message they’re getting here??? Please stop with the shtus already, WHO CARES???
How many people ever heard of the tzedaka named “simchat tzion”? How many people would have pledged 18 dollars if they were called on the phone about this tzedaka? That someone suddenly goes out and spends $50 or more on a concert ticket with the proceeds going to simchat tzion, says volumes.
Were people giving money to simchat tzion or buying tickets to a lipa concert?
I dont know about halacha, but the IRS would not allow a $50 tax decution for the purchase of a ticket with a face value of $50. The buyer received goods or srvices of some value on return. That value would be determined by what the cost per ticket to a similar Lipa concert goes sells OR by the amount per ticket that the producers earmark for simchat tzion.
Daboss, What do you mean what kind of message are the children getting??? They’re getting a very clear message that concerts and certain types of music are not approved by our gedolei yisroel!!!
P.S. The gedolei yisroel ARE dealing with the issues that these kids have because they’re the ones who have to deal with them in yeshiva!!
There is no need for them to send out a kol korei!!
