NYPD Reports Record Low Murder Numbers In NYC

The NYPD’s preliminary report on murders in 2012 shows a drop to levels below last year.

According to the report, there were 414 homicides through Dec 25 — 94 fewer than the same period last year.

That number also comes in below the record low of 471 in 2009.

The NYPD points to its unpopular stop and frisk policy for the decrease in homicides.

  1. To determine if a given policy is working, the need to compare to both similar places (Baltimore, Chicago, etc.) that lack such policies, as well as to local areas without such policies (suburban counties).

  2. kudos to n.y. government. here is baltimore where the population rate is 1 tenth of n.y the murder rate is over 300 and going up. the city government is atrocious. sad that the frum community puts its full support behind this inept mayor.

  3. I have a bridge to sell you.

The NYPD doing their own reporting? With Ray “cover up” Kelly at the helm? Lol! Bl$$mberg/Kelly have gotten pretty good at fudging the #’s! Btw, we’re still waiting for the NYPD “internal” investigation (lol) as to why NY’s Finest, gunned down an unarmed Army Vet in who was pulled over for speeding in Queens!
