A motorist killed late Friday afternoon during the Nor’easter when a tree landed on his vehicle on a stretch of I-87 in Westchester has been identified.
On Friday, March 2, 2018, at approximately 4:40PM, State Police were dispatched to investigate a serious injury accident which occurred northbound I-87 near mile post marker 11.3 in the Town of Greenburgh.
The driver of the vehicle Barry M. Shapiro, age 67 of Briarcliff Manor, NY was traveling northbound on I-87 when a tree fell from the eastbound shoulder and landed on Mr. Shapiro’s vehicle. Mr. Shapiro’s vehicle continued a short distance until coming to rest against a guiderail. Mr. Shapiro was transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, no other injuries were reported.
