Worries at The Pumps as Oil Jumps Above $100

gp.jpgCrude oil futures prices ended higher and at a new record – rising $4.51 – and closing at $100.01 a barrel. According to NBC News, there is no main reason for the jump – although yesterday’s refinery explosion at Alon USA in Texas (reported HERE on YWN) may have played a role. The refinery processes an estimated 70,000 barrels of oil each day – and can be closed for a few months.

The price hike sent gas prices at the pumps rising above $3 a gallon.

  1. You know what the Arabs have no rights to raise the gasoline prices when something happens in the world.. Let their OPEC Insurance pay for the damages. They have the money for anything like terroist supports… They are selfish and hurting us alots.. Enough Enough of this crazy raising prices… Why do the Governments take care of this problems???

  2. If people would boycut 1 and only 1 oil company let say the biggest like exxon mibile and buy evrything else but from them. Not for 1 day but for as long as it takes be it even months. Watch how this will start a price war and make prices come down like the price of long distance phone calls.

  3. mordekhai124, you are off base here. The problem is we need to get away from oil being a commodity traded on speculation. The prices must be determined on supply and demand just like most other goods & services here in the USA. We cannot be controlled by a group of idiots in some Chicago basement deciding to be “worried” about oil if there is nothing to be worried about.

mayerfreund, some people have been clamoring about that for a while but that will never help. People need to drive and they will buy gas if they need it. I drive for a living and I wont stop just for some boycott. I suggest you look at http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/gasout.asp for more information as to why this would NEVER work.
