Sandy may have washed away some key evidence in the fight against crime.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says a New York City Police Department storage facility in Brooklyn was flooded during the hurricane.
Members of the department are trying to determine what can be salvageable.
“It may be some DNA evidence, it may be other types of evidence that was flooded, other evidence that we kept at our storage facilities. Significant flooding has taken place, not question about it. We’re still trying to sort through this and assess the total damage,” Kelly said.
Sandy caused Newtown Creek to overflow and flood Greenpoint where the facility is located.
