A man who lived in an upper Manhattan building where a raging fire destroyed the top two floors last year has been arrested on charges of setting the fire.
WABC-TV reported Thursday that 34-year-old Jelani Parker has been arrested on charges of arson, assault and reckless endangerment.
More than 150 people were displaced by the Nov. 17 fire in the six-story apartment building.
Authorities say they had been building a case against Parker ever since he boarded a bus headed south within an hour of the fire.
Police say Parker later fled to Los Angeles. He was taken into custody there after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
It’s not clear if Parker has an attorney who could speak for him.
