Various Rabbis in Manchester have expressed relief this week after Prime Minister Gordon Brown scrapped plans for a supercasino in the city, the Jewish Chronicle is reporting. The proposals for a Las Vegas-style casino, in Beswick, a deprived neighborhood in the east of the city, had attracted condemnation from many faith leaders.
Although this casino plan has been scrapped, there are 16 smaller casinos being encouraged by the government.

Why would they want to open a casino in a slum? Are they asking for trouble?
Boruch Hashem, I think Gordon Brown’s hashkofos are right on the ball.
#2, what do you think the odds are on that? 😉
Boruch Hashem that bill was defeated – it was a terrible idea in totally the wrong place.
#1, The land is probably very inexspensive, and projects such as these, usually carry along with them future plans of cleaning up the area and building it up. Have a good one.
