No parent wants to learn that their daughter is addicted to drugs. However for one New York area family, that nightmare came true this week.

Chavi* was always a sensitive child. But years of bullying took her from sensitive, to depressed. Her parents watched, helpless, as Chavi began to go off the derech. She came home late smelling of alcohol. They did their best to help her, but she did not want to be helped.

As clear as her struggles were, her parents never dreamed that she was addicted to heroin. Until this past week, when they found her collapsed in her room. Foam dripped from her mouth, her eyes had rolled back in her head. In minutes, Hatzolah was on the scene. Emergency responders used NARCAN to revive her, and her life was miraculously saved.

However, the battle is not yet over — Left to fend for herself, Chavi is powerless to her addiction. In an extraordinary moment of the strength, the girl has decided that she now wants help. She has agreed to enter a rehab facility.
