Tax season begins today, the first day you can submit returns to the IRS. New Yorkers shouldn’t expect to get their refund checks any time soon, though.

Of the 155 million individual tax returns expected to be filed this year, the IRS says most refunds won’t be available until late February.

The IRS does encourage people to file their tax returns electronically for faster refunds.

The deadline to submit 2017 tax returns is Tuesday, April 17.
