As part of Hatzalah’s ongoing relationship with city, state and federal officials, NYC Public Advocate Letitia James met with Hatzalah’s Executive Board this past week at Hatzalah’s Citywide headquarters in Brooklyn.
Members of Hatzalah’s Executive Board discussed Hatzalah’s pivotal role as a leader in providing emergency medical services throughout New York City and the positive cooperative relationship between Hatzalah and the numerous city agencies that Hatzalah interacts with on a daily basis. The Public Advocate was interested in learning more about Hatzalah’s operations and how the city can do more to assist Hatzalah in providing these life saving services.
“Hatzalah volunteers represent the best of our communities, dedicating their free time to saving lives of others”, said Public Advocate James. “It was an honor to meet with Chevra Hatzalah, an organization that has done so much to ensure the safety and well-being of all New Yorkers, regardless of their background – a true mitzvah. I want to thank them for their continued service and support of our City.”
Public Advocate James also toured Hatzalah’s state of the art dispatch center in order to see first- hand how Hatzalah’s emergency calls are received, triage-d and dispatched.
Hatzalah is the largest volunteer EMS provider in the United States and its 1,300 all-volunteer EMTs and paramedics respond to over 70,000 emergency calls annually.
