(Click HERE for photos) A scaffold collapsed in Flatbush on Sunday, leaving a big mess on a nearby sidewalk, but Boruch Hashem no one was injured. The 6 story scaffold which collapsed on East 12th Street and Avenue O, pulled down numerous electrical wires, caused fires to break out on all the wiring, and crushed cars on both sides of the street. Fearing the worst, Flatbush Hatzolah dispatched 4 ambulances and paramedics – but their services were not needed.

i live there
Amazing scene! Right next door to Flatbush’s biggest and most famous Machniesay Orchim: Mordy (and Rebetzin) Florans – who have 40-50 guests EVERY Shabbos and Yomtov meal and whose house is always open for those in need. I walked by and noticed that somehow, while all the houses on the block lost electricity, the Florans home had electricity!! I walked up to the house and saw the famous ‘Mishenichnas OurDoor Marbim B’simcha’ sign. Just so happens to be that they are making a bar-mitzvah Tuesday night!! And they are expecting well over 500 people to be there. Thanks YW for this post.
shabbos evening is coming. and whoevers alone.
rabbi and rebbitzin florans open up their homes.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I was Just there and there is a big crew cleaning up and a special thank you goes out to MISASKIM for providing emergency lights so that the workers can have it cleaned up for the morning .
I also want to mention how nice it is mi keamcha yisrael that all the neighbors are taking care of each other because some people were left with no heat and Electric and we all know that tonight is not the night to be without Electric.
Also I wanted to mention A big Mazel Tov To the Obermeisters who live right there who just had a baby girl Mazel Tov!!
#2 where do you get all your info? Thanks for reminding us to put up the sign which hasn’t been up in years so get updated on your info!!!! we still haven’t broken the 500 mark so how many are you coming with?
#3 can’t wait to see you at the B’M. We have the song on schedule so don’t worry!!!
Just wanted to Thank Misaskim for providing the lights for the workers to clean up.

wow-i personally know the florans family and its no wonder they didnt suffer any damage. the amount of chesed coming out of that house is a sure protection from any harm. ive personally witnessed the unlimited warmth and kindness emanating from their home. i wish i was by the bar mitzva just to witness the love and chesed bound to take place there. mazal tov. nar “SIMCHAS”!!!
Chasdei Hashem!
amazing story. i know the florans family very well, i can testify to the chesed first hand. its a shame i wont make it to the bar mitvah. mazal tov! nar “SIMCHAS”!

totally unrelated: developers erecting these tall buildings and destroying characters of neighborhoods wholesale
I once ate by the Florans about 3 years ago: there were about 40 people there from all walks and talks of Yiddishe life. Mordy and his wife (CP) are a one of a kind
apikorus you are cordially invited to the Bar Mitzvah. take this as a personal invite. and #11 that’s what all the comments should be saying instead of talking about people. let’s keep things in the right perspective. this neighborhood is getting killed with all this over development that is bringing all new kinds of faces to our beautiful community.
apikorus. with a name lake yours they would be ashamed that you were in their house.
all the above comments are true. the floranses are unbelievable and those building that monstrosity that put the scaffold okn florans’ property deserve a mapolo (pun intended)
yaakov–they accept everyone – even an apikorus like me – hard to believe but ive been there theyve got all walks of life- chas long chas u r a jew, u r velcome there.
i live on that block and most of our neibors had their electricity and thank you to the workers the street worker’s the street was cleared up his morning
I understand the building under construction is owned by frum people. How dare you say they should have a mapola . Be thankful to Hashem that no one got hurt which easily could have happened (pun intended )
I believe the owners of the building under construction are frum. How dare you wish them a mapolo. Be thankful to Hashem that nobody was hurt, as could easily have happened (pun intended).
