UPDATED 12:42PM EST: Georgia: 100 Hurt In Explosion At Sugar Refinery


sugar plant.jpg9:36PM EST 2/07/08: (UPDATE BELOW) An massive blast rocked a sugar refinery earlier tonight, injuring close to 100 people, the Associated Press is reporting. A large blaze was reported as well. There were no deaths reported as of this time, and there is no word on what caused the blast at the Imperial Sugar plant, formerly Dixie Crystals.

Imperial markets some of the country’s leading consumer brands—Imperial, Dixie Crystals and Holly – as well as supplying sugar and sweetener products to industrial food manufacturers.

UPDATE 11:57 PM EST 2/07/08: At least 30 people have been injured critically, and six people are still unaccounted for.

UPDATE 12:42PM EST 2/08/08: The bodies of six people have been found after last nights massive explosion, authorities said Friday. At least 15 people remained in critical condition with severe burns after the blast. The fire had since been contained.

    they must have gotten it from the matzah bakery on kent avenue in brooklyn!
