Candidates Backed By Community Win Ramapo Town Board; Ed Day Wins Reelection As County Executive


Ramapo, NY – In the supervisor’s race, Deputy Town Attorney and first-time candidate Michael Specht was victorious over certified public accountant William Weber.

Yitzchok Ullman won a seat on the Town Board. Ullman has been acting as Ramapo Town Supervisor since longtime Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence was ousted following his fraud conviction.

David Wanounou also won a seat on the Town Board, defeating Shani Bechhofer and Grant Valentine.

Wanounou once served on the East Ramapo Board of Education.

Meanwhile, Republican Rockland County Executive Ed Day overcame Democratic and Conservative challengers to win his second term in office Tuesday.

He took 54 percent of the vote. Day’s main challenger, Democrat Maureen Porette, garnered 43 percent. She is a Stony Point lawyer and political newcomer. Conservative party candidate Thomas Sullivan scored just 2 percent.
