Just a few days ago, YWN published an article about a driver who drove his vehicle off a cliff while texting, and now, the NY Daily News is reporting about a teenager who nearly had his head sliced off while texting.
The Daily News reports: A Washington state teenager is lucky to be alive after a fence post speared through his windshield as he allegedly used his cell phone while driving.
The post “nearly took his head off,” Washington State Patrol Trooper Russ Winger told KATU-TV.
Witnesses said the 18-year-old was text messaging and driving erratically near Abderdeen on Saturday.
The teen made a U-turn and then careened off the side of the highway, slamming into a fence.
Photos show that the fence post impaled the windshield at a potentially deadly angle just above the steering wheel.
Miraculously, the driver only suffered minor lacerations to his face, according to KATU.

Is it newsworthy that when operating a motor vehicle one is required to pay attention to what one is doing?
OMGhow can we get this lesson across?
The dangers are immense to texting.
#1 Very newsworthy, since the accidents, injuries and fatalities are on the rise due to TEXTING.. The message is not being heard so needs to be repeated and repeated.
It didn’t happen because he was texting it happened because he was driving on shaboss
Talking on a handheld phone while driving is dangerous enough without adding to the danger by texting. And, if you’ve got your kids in the car while you’re distracted by your conversation…
@aAkuperma (and everyone else for that matter)
Is it necessary to comment just because there is an article?
