PHOTOS: Staten Island COJO Hosts NYPD Chief Carlos Gomez For Pre Rosh Hashanah Security Meeting

On Thursday, at the NYPD’s 121 Precinct, the Council of Jewish Organizations of Staten Island, (COJO-SI) and its Security Committee held its Annual Pre-Rosh-Hashanah Security Meeting.

At the meeting, the focus was on how to better secure Synagogues and Houses of Worship for the High Holiday Period when larger than ordinary crowds attend Synagogues all over.
At the meeting, COJO officials such as Mendy Mirocznik, COJO President, Scott Maurer, COJO CEO and Executive Vice-President, Ari Weiss, COJO security chairman and Coordinator Staten Island safety Patrol (Shomrim), were in attendance as well as David Pollack from the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC-NY) and a member of the COJO-SI Security Committee.

The following Rabbis were in attendance, Rabbi Yitzchak Landa, New Springville Jewish Center, Rabbi Yaakov Lehrfield, Young Israel of Staten Island, Rabbi Pinchas Pearl, Congregation B’nai Israel, and Rabbi Ahahron Zeev, Aur Torah Sephardic Congregation.

Pinny Ringel, represented Mayor Bill de Blasio, Marcy Bishop, represented District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, and Vincent Argenziano, represented Assemblyman Michael Cusick,

NYPD brass included Chief Carlos Gomez, NYPD Chief of Department who was the featured speaker, Chief Edward DeLatorre, Commanding Officer of Patrol Borough Staten Island, who introduced Chief Gomez, Lt. Rafet Awad, Commanding Officer Community Affairs, Patrol Borough Staten Island, Captain Mark C. Molinari, Commanding Officer, Hate Crime Unit, Detective Adam Berish, NYPD Commissioner’s Community Affairs Liaison Unit, Detective Dominick Scotto, NYPD Commissioner’s Office, Inspector Thomas Delahanty, Patrol Borough Staten Island, Inspector Robert Bocchino, Patrol Borough Staten Island, Deputy Inspector Joseph Simonetti, Commanding Officer Pct. 120, Deputy Inspector Matthew Harrington, Commanding Officer Pct. 121, Deputy Inspector Ebany Washington, Commanding Officer Pct. 122 and Captain Kenneth Noonan, Commanding Officer Pct. 123

The meeting was successful and in the words of Chief Gomez, “demonstrated the strong community partnership and bond between COJO-SI and the NYPD.”
