A fund has just been published on The Chesed Fund to help the Jewish community that is being affected by Hurricane Harvey.
The fund reads:
We have all seen the devastation unfolding in Texas following Hurricane Harvey.
Our hearts go out to all those who have lost their treasured memories, but, most importantly, those who remain stranded waiting to be evacuated with their cherished families. With more rain coming Houston’s way, this event is still developing as of Monday morning. Thousands of people are stranded. Many thousands of Jewish families have lost everything they own, and many more will still suffer. This catastrophic event has just begun, and its impact will be felt for a long time.
This is an unprecedented event that we have never seen in our community, and eclipses the “Memorial and Tax Day floods”. We hope and pray for all those affected by this disaster.
PLEASE open your hearts and help those affected by the storms.
The funds will be distributed to those in need by Rabbi Chaim Lazaroff, and Rabbi Yossi Zaklikofsky- both well-known Chabad Shluchim in Houston; as well as Rabbi Naftoli Schmukler, a Chabad Shliach in Corpus, Texas.
