NY Jewish Community Saddened By Loss Of State Police Sergent

nysp.gifYeshivaworld has just learned of the sudden passing of New York State Police Sergent Warner Hein – Zone 2 Commander of Troop F.

Sergent Warner Hein was widely known in Kiryas Yoel, and always went above and beyond the call of duty to help the community. A source tells Yeshicvaworld that he died suddenly while shoveling snow this morning.

Yeshivaworld spoke with Rabbi Bernard Freilich, special assistant to the Superintendent of the NY State Police about Sergent Warner Hein. “The loss is immeasurable to Kiryas Yoel and the Greater Jewish community of New York – and above all to every man and woman in the NYSP,” Rabbi Freilich said.

“He was a person who understood the community, had vast knowledge of our communities complex laws and customs, and was a man who was always there when needed”.

Rabbi Freilich also spoke about his courage and commitment to his job in the State Police.

“There was never a time when I called him 24/7 in an emergency and he did not respond instantly.”

Rabbi Freilich said that he was a True Ohev Yisroel, and was from the Casdei Umos Ha’olam.

Rabbi Moshe Witriol, Public Safety Director of Kiryas Yoel echoed the words of Rabbi Freilich. “in the past five years that I knew the Sergent, there was never one time where he did not instantly respond to the needs of the community”, Witriol said. “There was no such thing as being on duty, or off duty. He worked for the NYSP 24/7”

“The Kiryas Yoel community deeply mourns the loss of the Sergent”.

  6. I was terribly sadent by the news of the lose of Sergent Warner Hein, Zone 2 Commander Troop F, I had the oppertunity to work with him in the past on several occasions. He was an example of a leader and commander who knew what it means to work with everybody, without offending anybody. Rabbi Bernard Freulech, Spec. Assist. to Supt. N.Y.S.P. has worked with him for many years and developed an exemplary relationship with Rabbi Moshe Witriol, Chief of Village Police and the Village administration as well as with all the residents of K.J. We mourn the loss of a giant. He will be missed by all. Our Condolence to his Family, May his sole rest in peace, May the Almighty give strength and long life to his Family.
