Statements By Elected Officals Regarding Latest Hate Crime In Boro Park

NYC Councilman David Greenfield:

After Borough Park residents woke up this morning to find swastikas painted on at least a half-dozen buildings throughout the neighborhood, Councilman David G. Greenfield is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for the hateful attack on the community. Swastikas were discovered early this morning spray painted on at least six buildings in the vicinity of 16th Avenue, including a synagogue, a public school and several businesses. The NYPD is currently investigating the latest hate crime against Brooklyn’s Jewish community, including reviewing security footage from local businesses.

“Once again, we find ourselves under attack from individuals who think nothing of spreading hate and fear throughout the community. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially in an area that is home to so many Holocaust survivors. Rest assured, I will work with the NYPD until those responsible for this horrific crime are caught and help responsible. Our community will not be intimidated by these senseless acts of hate,” said Greenfield, who received assurance from detectives at the scene that this incident is being thoroughly investigated.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the NYPD’s confidential tip line at 1-800-577-TIPS.

Public Advocate De Blasio:

“Nothing but hatred can explain why someone would scrawl swastikas in a community of families and Holocaust survivors. We won’t be intimidated by it. Cameras on the streets have proven their worth by catching footage of the perpetrators, and they will face consequences for what they’ve done. I commend the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force for moving so swiftly, and urge anyone with more information on these attacks to come forward immediately.”

Manhattan Borough President Stringer’s Statement:

“Enough is enough. I am sick and tired of seeing symbols of hate scrawled across houses of worship in a city we regard as the most diverse and tolerant in the world. This week marks the 70th anniversary of the first entry in Anne Frank’s diary, making this act all the more hideous. With Nazi sympathizers gaining power in countries throughout the world, we must be especially vigilant in the face of any act of anti-Semitism, no matter the scale.”

Councilmember Brad Lander:

This despicable act of anti-Semitism pains our community, but brings us together. I urge the NYPD to arrest and prosecute those responsible for this hateful crime. At times like this, we must unite with communities across New York to keep our city a tolerant, welcoming home.”

NYS Assemblyman Hikind:

“What kind of sick person does this in a neighborhood of Holocaust survivors?” demanded Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn). “This is yet another example of the type of hate crimes that result from bigoted rhetoric. There will be no tolerance for hatred here and our community will address this from top to bottom. We’ll show that we’re serious about prosecuting criminals who would hurt us with their vile actions.”

The Assemblyman said law enforcement was immediately notified and a search is underway for the individual(s) who painted the swastikas.

“Hate crimes aimed specifically at the innocent people of this neighborhood are precisely why we need heightened security,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “The Security Initiative that is being put in place will go a long way towards protecting Borough Park and Midwood residents.

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY):

“I stand with the Borough Park community in condemning these ugly acts of hate directed at the Jewish community. Swastikas, which are abhorrent and unacceptable symbols of hatred and violence, placed at the core of Brooklyn’s Jewish community unfortunately demonstrate that anti-Semitism is alive and well. The perpetrator must be caught and prosecuted, and we must stand together to say that we will not tolerate such cowardly displays of bigotry.”

I was waiting for this comment. Any incident in Churz L’oretz, and the zionists jump on it.

As if in israel we don’t have this and much worse incidents.

  2. #1, oh and the thousands of Israelis that have been killed and injured ever since the States inception is of no concern to you. Get it straight Miss, Mrs or Mister who ever you are, Jews are in galus throughout the world, no matter where they are. Living in Israel is not going to solve the problem. The coming of Moshiach will solve it
