A new synagogue was inaugurated in the west German city of Bochum on Sunday, nearly 70 years after the previous one was destroyed by the Nazis. Members of the 1,200-strong Jewish community carried Sifrei Torah from the site of the old Shul to the new one ahead of the afternoon inauguration.
The cube-shaped synagogue took two years to build at a cost of 10 million dollars. With room for 200 people, it forms the core of a community centre that Jewish leaders in the city hope will be a meeting point for all citizens.

you wonder after such a terrible churban europe perpertrated by the nazis, yemac smon v’zicrom,a jewish community goes and builds a shul for two hundred people at a cost of $10million dollars.i know we jews have a tendency to live in golus;however why at such a large expense.couldnt they just build a bais haknesseth for two hundred
people at much more nominal costs.

10million bucksohs to rebuild a jewish shul in germany, i am missing something and it will be used as a meeting point for all citizens, help!
baruch hashem they are spending their money building a shul. what if they spent the money building a mall or a stadium? i’m sure its an attractive building and many (jewish) people will attend tefillot or community gatherings who otherwise wont. keep that pintele yid glowing.
Complain complain. Last week when there was a story about someone giving millions to NYU Medical Center, people complained that it wasn’t given to something Jewish. Here is a story where it is given to something Jewish, and people complain that it was too much. Maybe they could have built a cheaper shul, but that isn’t worth calling the whole action bad.

R’ Zalmen , the brother of R’Chaim V’lozener,was traveling and he told the driver that he will pay him more , that he should go around the border and not cut thru germany.the driver agreed. but when they got to the area it was dark at night and the driver thought he could save time so he went thru germany.R’Zalmen stuck his head out of the coach and cried at the driver”i told you not to go thru germany”. how did R’Zalmen know this it was dark at night.?the answer is simple. GERMANY STINKS.the ruach is pervertated.that’s why the haskala was able to start there.that’s why the Baal Shem Tov never went there.( that’s why the are no chasidim from germany). and thats why the chorban started there.over 1,000 years of Torah in Europe , was destroyed by germany.
