On Friday May 25, 2012, at approximately 11:40 PM, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a report of a fatal accident at the Ichud Bungalow Colony (formerly Ideal Bungalows) on State Route 42 South in the Town of Thompson.
At the scene deputies found a man pinned under a golf cart that had rolled over.
The victim, identified as Carlos Merino Santiago, 21, of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the scene by Sullivan County Coroner Elton Harris.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Santiago may have been doing “donuts” and perfoming other manuevers with the golf cart just prior to it overturning.
His lifless body was discovered by a co-worker who called 911.
Sheriff’s Detectives believe Santiago may have been under the golf cart for some time prior to being found.
Santiago, who is originally from Saint Pedro Jicayan, Mexico, was part of a maintenance team that was preparing the bungalow colony for its opening in a few weeks.
Detectives believe alcohol may have been a factor in this accident.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Monticello Fire Dept. and Monticello Police.

Strange story. There is no golf course at this summer resort so why would this guy be driving around drunk doing “wheelies” in a golf cart? Also, most golf carts I’ve driven move very slowly and are not that big so even if he had driven the cart from a nearby golf course, its unlikely he could have flipped it over.
I suspect that you are deliberately being obtuse because it is difficult to be naturally that stupid.
WAS HE ILEGAL?
I suspect you are the one who may be a bit obtuse or perhaps have never driven a golf cart since if you had, you would know this story sounds a bit wierd. Even if the Satmar resort had purchased some used golf carts for the maintenance staff to use in getting around, it would still be difficult to kill yourself in one. I’ve been around golf courses for over 20 years and never heard of a fatality on the fairways.
In bungalow colonies golf carts are used instead of cars for transportation through the grounds. At full speed, they can definitely go fast enough to flip over on a slope.
You never heard of the famous 15th hole at The Ichud Golf Club, the famous par 3 known as A Luch in Cup?
That’s not a pleasant way to treat someone. Maybe GadolHador is lonely looking for some communication, and may or may not have the best social skills. Redgardless, we need to show free love to our brothers & sisters. Please
I actually have driven and been around golf carts for years. That’s how I know that they go more than three miles an hour. And how I know they are used on more than just golf courses. As anyone knows and that’s why I called the ketanah on her nonsense.
And I am not so haughty to assume that my own experience is the facts for everyone so I did a quick google search. Which I assume she can do herself. And that’s why I called her intentionally obtuse.
Wow all the Satmar news thats fit to print
#7, How do you know Gadolbe’einav is one of our brothers or sisters?
