French President Emmanuel Macron says his now famous white-knuckle handshake showdown with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump was “a moment of truth” — designed to show that he’s no pushover.
Macron told a Sunday newspaper in France that “my handshake with him, it wasn’t innocent.”
Macron added: “One must show that you won’t make small concessions, even symbolic ones, but also not over-publicize things, either.”
Macron’s office confirmed to The Associated Press the veracity of the president’s comments in Le Journal du Dimanche.
At their first meeting, ahead of a NATO summit in Brussels on Thursday, the two men locked hands for so long that knuckles started turning white. The French leader held the shake for a few seconds more. Both men’s jaws seemed to clench.

i’m having difficulty deciding whether this story is meant to be “pro” or “anti” Trump. i’m suspecting the latter, only because focus is being made on how white knuckles are being turned. not only is the media watching every single move our president makes to play a game of “gotcha!”, they are also watching very closely his white knuckles during a handshake. is this ridiculous or not, i ask you? no other president, in my lifetime anyway, has ever been so scrutinized. it’s just not right!
Chaiml, I’m just trying to figure out the same thing. YWN, are you sure this is coming from AP Fake News. There must be something I misunderstand in this report because it’s very unlikely Fakestream reports should say something positive about Trump.
“no other president, in my lifetime anyway, has ever been so scrutinized. ” Definitely true. They couldn’t find anything on the President, so the FBI called an emergency meeting with Eric and Donald Trump Jr yesterday “to discuss an attempted overseas cyberattack against the Trump Organization.”
Eric Trump insists the Trump Organization wasn’t hacked. This is all very suspicious because if there was such a hack, the FBI would use that as an excuse to access the Trump Organization’s computer network:
The FBI’s involvement could come with some risks, Frankel said, both for the company and the president. In the course of its investigation, the FBI could get access to the Trump Organization’s computer network, meaning FBI agents could possibly find records connected to other investigations.
“There could be stuff in there that they do not want to become part of a separate criminal investigation,” Frankel said.
Read all about this new scandal on TheGatewayPundit – and the comments… wow!
The corruption in the FBI and CIA is alarming and frightening.
A handshake loses all meaning when you talk about it.
