The University of Maryland College Park Jewish community is elated to announce that they beat University of Michigan and Indiana University to be the sole record holder for most dreidels spun at one time. They have informed Yeshivaworld that the attempt was made on Wednesday evening and 602 people came out to spin dreidels, while heavy snow was falling. [Origional story HERE on YW]
University of Michigan, Maryland’s main contender, made their attempt this evening and a few minutes ago, the conceded with only around 550 spinners. This allowed the
University of Maryland students to recapture their Guinness World Record title.
UMD students first captured the title in 2000 with 535 simultaneous spinners, but Temple Emmanuel, a New Jersey synagogue, stole the distinction in 2005 with 541 spinners.
