Rav Chaim Kanievsky and a board of Bnei Brak dayanim have confirmed the legitimacy of a fundraising campaign launched to help a widow & her ten children. The Spinka Rebbe also issued a public statement stressing the urgency of the family’s need.
Rabbi Bernstein zt”l, husband and father or the family in need, passed away after a painful struggle with illness. The Bernstein family are reportedly living in a state of dire poverty, unable to meet their needs for the holiday. Due to the severity of their situation, an emergency fund on their behalf has been launched.
Included on the fund page is video footage of 10-year-old Betzalel, a thin child with glasses and long blonde peyos, standing in what appears to be his kitchen. The emotional clip shows the shocked boy, still in the midst of shiva for his father, recording his urgent erev Pesach message.
“‘Please help my mother,” the boy pleads, implying that soothing his mother is more important to him than his own pangs of hunger & grief.
It is a devastating sight.

PLEASE!! Holy Gedolai Yisrael! The time has come for all men and women who bring children into this world to do a simple thing! BUY LIFE INSURANCE! In most cases, it’s simple to do, very easy, and very inexpensive when it’s bought when the couple is young and healthy. It should be done before the birth of the first child, nevermind after many and the parents are already older. Both parents need policies for the most coverage they are able to get. Ever try to figure out what it costs for a nanny or metepelet to raise a family in a paying job? A lot of money, which would comes from life insurance if the mother dies. The father can then continue working or learning to provide a source of stability for the family. And, if the father dies, the mother has the financial ability to care for her family. To not do this is the ultimate in irresponsibility.
With all deference to the Spinka Rebbe, this article has been repeated several times a day for the past several days. I’m sure the Rebbe is a choshuva yid , but The Gadol hador is an entirely different Sugya. This is chutzpah and not appropriate
