El Al will invest NIS 20 million in 2008 to replace the seats in first and business classes on all six of its Boeing 777 aircraft, while economy class seats will simply get new covers.
The project involves the replacement of 72 first class seats and 210 business class seats, as well as replacing the covers for 1,694 economy class seats. Replacement of the seats in the first plane will be completed in December 2007, with the rest of the fleet due to be upgraded by March 2008.
El Al CEO Haim Romano told Globes, that the seats in business class would recline into the position of a flat bed, angled 11 degrees relative to the plane floor, while first class seats would fold out into beds with each seat covered by a canopy over the passenger, providing privacy during the flight.

“economy class seats will simply get new covers”
Typical behavior, treating the guys in the back like cattle.

of course we are cattle… I have no intention of paying 3 times the price of my ticket (or more) just so that i can get a seat that I can lie down in for a 9 hour flight.
…and its not just El Al, every airline has to squash in passengers in economy class, if they didn’t the airlines couldnt function
wonderful another excuse for el al to raise ticket prices!!!!!!!!!!!!
They just got rid of the Arabs. How do they expect to pay their fuel costs?
why even get emotional about a business decision of an airline? okay, they are Israeli airline, but come on, do you really care how they run their business? if you feel their prices are too expensive — dont fly or fly with other airlines. dont overpay for those expensive buz class seats — keep buying economy (hey they got new covers now, and yes, you’ll be the one footing their bill). 🙂
el al is replacing enconomy seats with business class prices. take a look what a ticket to israel will run you now.keep the old seat covers and old prices.
