A week after the brutal anti-Semitic attack against an avreich in Kiev, a prominent askan was murdered on Shabbos in Dnepropetrovsk.
Ginadie Axelrod HY”D was murdered by an armed cyclist, reportedly due to business dealings and not in a hate attack. The victim is reported to have been among the most affluent and influential members of the Jewish community in Ukraine. Local reports state that Axelrod’s business was experiencing difficult times and had filed bankruptcy to avoid paying debtors.
A number of months ago, Axelrod and two others, one of them being his business partner Oleg Levine, survived an attempted assassination when a bomb was placed under a sofa in a café they frequent.

They are there because they, or the orgs that support them have voted no to kibbutz galuyot, and prefer to stay on the cursed land soaked with their brothers’ recently spilled blood. I would think that ignoring the past and present occupies so much mental capital that they may also be not responsible for the folly.
