Former New York City Police Department detective Bo Dietl is set to formally announce his run for mayor today.

Dietl is running as an independent.

In addition to his police career, Dietl has acted in a number of movies and has been a recurring guest on Fox News.

Dietle says his campaign will be focused on addressing crime and homelessness.

He’s been a frequent critic of Mayor Bill de Blasio, and promises to set up an independent counsel to investigate the mayor’s campaign finance activities.
