  1. Rav Refoel Marcus ZATZAL was an extremly special person. Growing up in Toronto i didn’t have the zechus to get to know him well, but yet the few times that i did was a memorable moment.

I remember once in Toronto I was in NCSY shabbaton and i was in sixth grade! (This goes way back)And i remember i went to the shul there and he noticed me from far that i was flipping the pages of the siddur, changing siddur to siddur! So he came over to me in the middle of davening and said to me What’s the problem young boy? and i said i’m not use to davening askenaz beacuse i’m sefardi so he said come here! So i came all the way next to the aron near his spot and sat right next to him and handed me out of nowhere a sefardi siddur! His warmth and true ahavas yisrael will never leave me!
He was a great talmid chacham and loved every Jew in klal yisrael! –

Ruach Tenachana Be’Gan Eden – Amen!

  2. He was a tzaddik gamur. He was my wife’s family Rov for many, many years and after our wedding when we first lived in Toronto before moving to EY, I was zoche to listen to his shiurim on Shabbos, between mincha/maariv, etc. and go to him for sheilas, etc. He will be missed very much.

  3. Boruch Dayan Emes.I also grew up in Toronto (in a different section)and am close friend of the Rov’s sons-in-law, one of which whom had grown up in the shul. I will always remember his warmth and encouragement towards me. His sons and sons-in-law are talmidei chachomim, one son is a rov in KGH, a few of his children live in Yerushalayim learning in kollel for many years. may the mishpocho only know from simchos.

  4. levaya will be in yerushalayim thursday afternoon, 1pm (approx.) at the Beit HaLevayos Sanhedria (tzomet Bar-ilan) proceeding to Har haZeisim

  5. I was very struck by the tremndous lifelon kavod the niftar had for his shver and was even more struck by the chibah (loving affection)his shver had for him. YEHI ZICHRO BARUCH.

    How old was he?

  6. Rav Marcus Zatzal was known for his warmth, chesed and his anava. He helped my family countless times throughout the years, and it was all done with love and in secrecy to preserve our pride. He lived and felt other people’s pain, and always knew just what was needed and when. It was a true zechus to know such a special person. Yehi Zicro Baruch

  7. He was 56 (I think). My Father & Uncle grew up with him (& his older brother Rav Jay Marcus) on the West Side of Manhattan. Unfortunately, he was sick for a while. His son, Rav Shmuel Marcus – Rav of Kehillas Ishei Yisroel in Kew Gardens Hills (Queens), was a friend, neighbor and Rav of mine until I moved out. May the families know of no more Tzar in there lifetimes.

Hamakom Yenacheim Eschem Bsoch Sha’ar Aveilay Tzion B’Yerushalayim.

  8. Moreinu, Rabbi Marcus zt”l, was a true Tzaddik Nistar.

It would be futile to put into few words the Gadlus of his towering character. He personified the truest forms of Midos Tovos; Tznius, Chesed, and Avodas Hashem, to mentioned just a few. Zecher Tzaddik Livracha.

Hamokom Yenachem Eschem Besoch Sh’ar Tziyon ViRushalayim.
