Lakewood police tell the Asbury Park Press, that the teens who came to the Lakewood High School on Monday with the intention of starting trouble were members of several local gangs.
“We believe it is gang-related,” Detective Steve Wexler told the APP. “There is a faction of several smaller localized juvenile groups from different geographical locations in and out of the town that are at odds with each other.” Wexler said police are collecting information for Lakewood’s gang task force and for the state’s initiative on gangs.
School officials and police said Tuesday’s school day was without incident following Monday’s melee – reported first by YW – which involved as many as 150 students and led to 13 arrests — 12 of them juveniles.

Don’t blame the gangs for the violence in Lakewood; or the police who themselves can’t maintain order; blame the yiddishe “slum” lords!!!
Steve wexler is one of Lakewood’s best – does whatever possible to help the frum community needs!!
They are starting to train em young. Now will any body believe that Lakewood has a hang problem ? Slumlords any comment ? (This time they fought with them selves what will they do next time ????)

I was out of town over a weekend last winter when unfortunately my home was vandalized by a thug who was vandalizing homes when people were away. He was doing this crime for a few years without being caught. B”H this thug was finally caught by detective Steve Wexler. Thank you again officer Wexler!

stop harrasing landlors, they are infested in lakewood in all areas before the landlords give them a place for example georges apt. so stop being bitter and stay straight
I was being 100% sarcastic in my comment earlier. How anyone can blame gang wars and Lakewood violence on innocent landlords whose only crime is trying to make a parnassa is insane. There is no Yiddishe landlord who would EVER knowingly rent to gangs or anyone with a criminal history. The thought alone is insane. That’s the point of the criminal checks (and credit checks) that they do before considering to accept a new tennant. GROW UP LAKEWOOD! and stop looking for a scapegoat to blame.
