Vaad Rewards In Lakewood Crimes Remain Unclaimed

According to the Asbury Park Press, the Lakewood Vaad will rely on the Police Department in determining who should receive two rewards offered for the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in crimes against members of the Orthodox community, said Rabbi Moshe Zev Weisberg.

The Vaad offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the Lakewood abductor in May 2006.

Weisberg said no one had come forward to claim the $50,000, and he said it was the police who connected the information and made the arrest.

The Vaad also donated $20,000 for the information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the baseball-bat attack on Rabbi Mordechai Moskowitz.

Detective Lt. Joseph Isnardi said the Police Department is not involved with the reward at all and prefers that any reward be held in abeyance until after the adjudication of Lee Tucker’s – the man arrested for the baseball-bat assault – case.

  1. Maybe we can take the 70 grand (total) & use it to for the creation of a citizen’s watch group.

Sure, we need Bitachon. But, we really could use a little Hishtadlus.

I think this patrol should be independent of the Vaad, but under the guidance of the R”Y & Rabbonim.

  2. no one ever gets these rewards — there are always loopholes, and its not practical to sue.

for example, did sadam hussein’s cousin get his $25million us dollars for giving him up? we didnt hear about it!!!
