Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will draw a contrast with US President Barack Obama on Middle East policy on Wednesday and promise to bolster US ties with Israel if elected next year.
In remarks to Jewish Republicans, Romney will promise to make a visit to Israel his first foreign trip if he becomes the Republican presidential nominee and goes on to oust Obama from the White House in next November’s election.

I wonder if he will have the resolve to visit Jerusalem and call it Israel’s capital.
Does Mr. Romney’s offer, as reported above, mean anything? Or is it merely “symbolic” and intended to be a “blank tablet” on which Jewish Republicans, and/or other Jewish voters, can fill in their own policy wishes. At worst, is it, perhaps, an insult to Jewish voters, an offer of an empty gesture?
