After months of planning and multiple cancellations, a Lakewood anti-illegal immigration rally finally got off the ground. A total of about 60 supporters turned out to the Lake Carasaljo amphitheater yesterday to hear several speakers voice their concerns and frustrations surrounding the influx of illegal immigrants into the United States.
The rally, organized by township resident Diane Reaves, was originally scheduled to take place in August, but was canceled after multiple venues backed down from hosting the event and concerns arose over the security of speakers and attendees.
A large police presence was seen at the rally from the Lakewood Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department – and the rally ended without incident.

After a rebbe get badgered and hospitalized with serious injuries, robberies and assaults in Lakewood, about 60 PEOPLE attend a rally, huh!! Where were all the concerned citizens, the bnei torah, the residents of Lakewood—-I guess the entire issue is all talk but no action!!!
Editors Response: The protest was held on Shabbos.
is the number 60 including the large police presence?
B”H the rally was held on Shabbos so all the Jews (like myself) who hire the illegals could not attend and show public display of hypocrisy.
Why don’t we hold a rally that it’s been 2 weeks since a thug beat up a local Rebbi & the PD haven’t found anything! We don’t see more officers in the streets patrolling – that’s what needs to be protested.
While we have great respect for our PD, there is no reason why this crook is still out there.
Seriously, kehilla of Lakewood plan a rally together with the community board and leaders and show that immigration is not working in your city. BTW I have heard of rallys taking place on shabbos, that rabbanim and congregants attended by walking.
