What happended?
Did they get away with any money?
wow…black male with a handgun…how unusual!!
I think that the bank was robbed already once.
What can shomrim do about a guy with a gun?
same with independence/sovereign bank on ave J & east 13 (one block over) – they were robbed last year – same way 3 times in a few months in middle of the day!
Years ago, when this bank was known as The Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn, there was always one armed guard upstairs, and another armed guard downstairs by the vault. It seems in recent years, bank branches around the country have cut back on armed guards, and take the philosophy of “giving them the money, as it is insured”. In my opinion, bank robbers should not be given a free pass. This asinine attitude invites further stickups.
You have to understand that Washington Mutual is one of the very few banks that still have gates in front of their tellers as opposed to bullet proof glass. This increases the chance of gun point because of the close and opened range.
Also, how much money could he have ran off with; after lunch hours at a single teller?
