Police say a swastika was found scrawled on the campaign poster of a judge seeking re-election in a suburban town north of New York City.

Justice Ilan Gilbert told the Journal News that he made the discovery after a candidates’ forum on Monday.

Gilbert, who is Jewish, said he placed the posters in the lobby of the Yorktown Stage, which was hosting the forum.

Police believe the vandalism occurred between 6:45 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Yorktown police Lt. Kevin Soravilla said investigators are looking into the incident.
