A group of men attacked a rabbi and two yeshiva students in Cherkassy, Ukraine just days after a rabbi was assaulted in Sevastopol. Chabad rabbi Yosef Rafaelov came with the students from Israel to help the local community celebrate Sukkos. On Shabbos evening around 9:00PM, they were ambushed near the Shul by a group of men who beat them with fists and kicked them repeatedly.
There was no indication that the victims of the attack were robbed; that fact plus the proximity of the assault to the Shul increases the likelihood that it was a hate crime.
