$24 Million Given By US Homeland Security To Jewish Groups

mon.jpgMore than $24 million was sent out Friday to mostly Jewish nonprofit organizations in major cities nationwide because the federal government considers them to be at high risk of a terrorist attack.

The Homeland Security Department decided which nonprofits would receive these 308 grants based on threat and risk information. Organizations in Chicago and New York were the top recipients.

The funds are to be used to increase physical security and screening systems and to train personnel in terrorism awareness and preparedness. The grants went to medical centers, schools, temples and synagogues.

  1. When they say Jewish non-profits, I hope they mean yeshivos and not just the local JCC or conservative rabbits that serve in deformed temples.
