The Lakewood Police Department is asking that residents not flood the police emergency lines with non urgent calls in the event Irene hits Lakewood. ”Do not call police with weather related – non-emergency -questions”, Police Captain Gregory Meyer says. “Someone may need us won’t be able to get through”.
During the earthquake earlier this week, police lines were flooded with non-emergency calls, causing the lines to be jammed with many callers unable to get through to police.
The Captain reiterated that residents should remain home and keep off the roads.
