AUDIO: Carl Paladino Interviewed On Zev Brenner Radio Show; Apologizes For Reading ‘Extreme-Type’ Speech Written By Rabbi Yehuda Levin

Here’s Carl Paladino on the Zev Brenner show at 1:00AM EST Motzei Shabbos (apparently pre-taped a few hours before that, since the candidate said at least once that it was 10:30PM as he spoke) taking “full responsibility” for his visit to Boro Park and the speech he read.

He called some of the language “extreme-type” and said he hadn’t gone over the text that was prepared by Rabbi Yehuda Levin.

“It was a mistake on my part … I hadn’t proof read the document,” he said. “Unfortunately I stood up there and I read some things that are not me. I used some words that are not me. I apologize for the misuse of words. I used very extreme-type words.”

He reiterated it wasn’t him and said, “As I said I take full responsibility for my carelessness in letting my guard down at that moment. Unfortunately I’m human just like everybody else. I‘ve made mistakes. I don’t personally think mistakes I’ve made are so tragic but I’ve tried to clear them up…I’m learning about how to manage this type of a campaign.”

  1. Smart move by Paladino, who, I believe, will pull off an upset that will shock the political establishment, now scurrying to endorse Cuomo, despite his support of Toeva legislation as a piority.

I heard Paladino’s mea culpa last night, but I noted that HE DID NOT WITHDRAW HIS OPPOSITION TO TOEVA MARRIAGE–HE’S STILL AGAINST IT!

AND, HE STILL STANDS BY HIS SUPPORT OF TAX CREDITS AND VOUCHERS FOR RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS, WHICH CUOMO VIGOROUSLY OPPOSES, BECAUSE OF HIS TIES TO THE PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS UNIONS.

Paladino just apologized for the tone and language of his remarks, not the substance.

  2. Paladino denounced Rabbonim in a Shul and appologized.
He sent porn email and appologized.
He fathered a child out of wedlock and appologized.
That’s in addition to his short-circuit temper and his bombastic pronouncements.
Unfortunately, Cuomo with his support for toivo marriage is no alternative.
I plan to skip the governor race and vote Donovan Attorney General.

  3. dear “sane conservative” (no. 2):

You are so right! Paladino apoligizes, and Cuomo does not.

Paldino apologizes for his mistakes and misdeeds, and Cuomo does not. In fact Cuomo is proud of his sponsorship of Toeva legislation and of participating in the Toeva “Pride’ parade with his children.

So who do you think is the better man?

  4. I will be voting for Paladino & hope it will be a shocker that he will pull out a win and even if not he has to come in close so the GOP esteblishment will start focusing on NY and put in some more effort and money.

  5. Dov77: Just make sure to vote Republican the rest of the Statewide ticket where it could make more of a difference.

  6. What kind of leader reads a prepared speech from someone else without reviewing its contents? I don’t like Cuomo or Paladino; New Yorkers lose whoever of these two clowns wins

  7. At least he apologizes and seems sincere about it. He’s not a baal gaivah. He acts human. We need human politicians not the heartless arrogant ones that we currently have in many positions of power.

  8. #7–do you think that’s all it takes to be a leader? To be human? A person has to have an ability to lead and Paladino has only proved that he’s short-tempered with a checkered past. It’s unfortunate there is not a strong alternative to Cuomo.

  9. Having an idiot lead the state of New York is a bad thing. Look a Paterson. Palidino is obviously an idiot. The GOP has just given up on NYS so they just let a rich guy run around. Andrew will win so be smart and be nice.

  10. exactly what was wrong with Rabbi Levin’s words?

ok you do not like Rabbi Levin, but the words he wrote (maybe he did or didnt), but assuming he did, weren’t his words in support of Toirah?

Paladino backed off because of political pressure, he will probably do the same when another important issue confronts him. Who can trust a man like that? He might be the better of two rasha’s, but this means the Yiddin are prepared to vote for someone who denounces Toirah?

Like him or not Rabbi Levin’s position is right… not smart, but right in regards to Toirah… now how do you vote?

It comes down to a write in candidate, so I’m voting for Yosef Chaim
