Poll: Romney Steals Narrow Lead From Obama As Election Nears

U.S. Republican candidate Mitt Romney was 1 percentage point ahead of President Barack Obama in Wednesday’s Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll in a presidential race that is effectively a dead heat less than two weeks before the Nov. 6 election.

In a reversal of Tuesday’s results, Romney led Obama among likely voters by 47 percent to 46 percent, a statistically insignificant margin, in the four-day online tracking poll.

Obama had a lead of 53-42 percent among the 17 percent of the surveyed registered voters who said they had already cast their vote.

Like many other polls, the rolling Reuters/Ipsos poll has shown a tight race since shortly after the two candidates met for their first debate on Oct. 3. The two met for their third and last debate on Monday and most surveyed voters said the face-off did not change their view of either candidate.

The accuracy of Reuters/Ipsos online polls are measured using a credibility interval. The credibility interval on the survey of 1,222 likely voters is 3.2 percentage points and 2.8 percentage points for the 1,621 registered voters.

  1. 1. The polls aren’t reliable in any event, in part since they always overstate the “left” vote.

    2. There are many variables the polls can’t reflect. Will many Hispanics lean towards Obama based on his promises but stay home him due to his deportations during the last four years? How many “Christian” voters will decide to vote for a Mormon (how they detest), even if they support his policies? How will having two Catholics running against other impact on Catholic and anti-Catholic voters (noting one is fairly pious and the other fairly nominal). What will the stock market due next week?

    3. Look at the polls, I would say there is almost a 100% change that either Romney or Obama will win the election – which is all you really know from the polls.

  2. Its taken ReutersObama some time to catch up with some of the others but who could blame them. After all, it shows their boy going up in smoke.

With what keeps coming out about Bengazzi (sic?), anyone ANYONE who votes for him needs their head examined.
